Have you caught the travel bug? Travelling in Australia is more affordable than ever thanks to the internet. You can book plenty of cheap flights and cheap accommodation all with the click of a mouse!

Cheap travel is especially appealing to younger travellers who are looking to “see the world” before they settle down into a serious career. With a bit of research and legwork, you can plan a trip that’s cheap as chips – here’s how!

Use the internet – there are plenty of exclusive cheap hotels and last minute deals that are available online. Sign up for newsletters, communities and forums to get the most up to date info on the latest deals and bargains.

Stay away from tourist areas – when dining out, look for cheaper local options rather than paying for expensive meals in some of the hot tourist locations close to your hotel. Websites like eatability are great resources for local dining options that meet your budget.

Utilise public transport – and walk! Walking is a great way to see the sites and explore the city, not to mention get some much needed exercise while you’re away from the gym!

Become your own guide – visit the local library (or the internet!) or ask your hotel concierge for maps and information on areas of interest. Ask locals about the area – you’ll be amazed at what you’ll learn and some of the treasures you’ll discover.

Go local when it comes to buying souvenirs – especially when overseas. Take the time to visit local markets for your souvenirs or to sample the local cuisine. Look for special weekly or monthly markets. You’ll find some unique treasures to take home.

Find free entertainment and activities – check out local community events such as music festivals or art exhibitions. Free events and entertainment offer inexpensive alternatives to going out. Local newspapers and online forums are a great source of information, as is your hotel. Ask locals about which local restaurants and pubs have live music performances. They’re a fun and inexpensive way to dance the night away!

Don’t blow your budget on your travels. Some good internet research and careful planning means you can stretch your travel budget further – so you can go where you want!

Traveling Ideas

If you like the idea of going on holiday, but you haven’t got a car then you will certainly not be alone. Many people have just never got around to taking their driving test and think that a trip away will be really expensive. However, this is not the case.

Coach holidays are a brilliant way to have a break and they are very reasonably priced. They leave from most town and city centres and can take you to a wide variety of destinations. You can choose to have a few days away or a much longer break. Perhaps you do not want to travel too far? Or you may like the idea of a week in Scotland. Whatever kind of holiday it is that you want; there are plenty of coach trips to choose from.

By having a quick look at some travel companies on the internet, you will find a great choice of destinations. You can explore many areas of mainland Europe or visit some different parts of England; there are coach holidays to suit everyone and anyone. The only problem you are going to have is deciding on where to go.

Travelling by coach will also mean travelling in luxury. Most of today’s vehicles are really well equipped to make your journey as comfortable as possible. You can look forward to fully adjustable seats (complete with safety belts) and modern toilet facilities. Many coaches will also have their own air conditioning system; and if you have ever had to sit in a queue of traffic on a blazing hot day then you will realise what a godsend this can be.

People who do not have their own car may think they have to take second best when it comes to going away, but this is most definitely not the case. Just because you do not drive, does not mean that you cannot have a great time. Coach holidays are a brilliant way of getting to all kinds of different locations and they will take you there in style. Besides, who needs a car anyway? They can certainly cause you a great deal of stress.

Going away by coach will mean you do not have all of the worries that go with travelling by car. Have you got enough petrol in the tank? Did you remember to check the oil, tyres and water? And are you sure you know the way there? All of these are niggling concerns when you go away by car. But the biggest one of all is the chance of breaking down; even modern cars will go wrong from time to time and they have a habit of doing it when you least expect them to… You may have taken out roadside recovery on your vehicle, but a breakdown can still be a wet blanket on your holiday trip.

In many ways you are better off going on holiday by coach than you would be by car. It is cheaper, easier and a whole lot more comfortable.
